Community Living
At Woodhaven, home is not just a place to sleep at night. It is a refuge of comfort and a reflection of individuality. The adults with developmental disabilities we serve live in more than 40 traditional and accessible homes and apartments scattered across Mid-Missouri. Our Residential Services program provides support and assistance so that individuals served can live independent fulfilling lives as members of the community they love.
Staff Support
Our dedicated team of Direct Support Professionals is committed to working with each individual to help them live independently in their own home. They help these men and women learn new skills and serve more as role models, mentors and friends, rather than as caregivers. Staff members assist and support each person served to the extent they need, in learning to care for their personal hygiene, nutrition, household chores, social skills, and other areas, as necessary, based on the interests of the individual.
Individual Choice
Individuals in this program make choices about all aspects of their daily life; this can be as simple as what shirt to wear today or what to make for dinner and as complex as deciding what they want to do to earn a living. Through every decision, these men and women are exercising their independence and playing an active role in their own lives.
They are also supported in developing friendships and enhancing their personal growth by encouraging involvement and inclusion within the community.
