Fall 2024 Class Schedule
Therapeutic Recreation CLASSES ($500)
Learn to Play Ukulele (Monday) 11:30am-12:30pm
Whether you are a beginner hoping to learn the basics or whether you have played in the past and have skills to share, this will be a fun way to meet with others to learn the ukulele and play music together! We will learn basic chords, rhythms, strumming, and songs, plus skills for playing music in a group.
Mindful Movement (MONDAY) 4:30pm-5:30pm
Experience connecting with yourself through breathing, movement, and meditation. Founded in the original philosophies of Yoga, this class will help you bring balance to your life: physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. Come prepared with a yoga mat, water bottle, and an open mind as we explore the present moment together. When we give ourselves enough space, anything is possible. Let’s begin.
Slow Down with Sound (MONDAY) 5:30pm-6:30pm
Unwind your body and mind with the calming sounds of shakers, tongue drum, and guitar. Wear comfortable clothes, and bring a blanket, pillow, or other items to help you settle into the present moment. Allow any sensations that arise and give yourself space knowing that during this time the only goal is rest. Let’s come together to rest up, and slow down.
Whimsy & Wellness (TUESDAY) 11:30am - 12:30pm
Did you know that fresh air can improve your health? Walking and talking with a friend can help you feel good in your mind and body? Being creative, as well as collaborating with others, can make you happy and help you solve problems? Join Whimsy and Wellness to learn ways to be well and enjoy life. In this class we will be creative, take walks, move our bodies, and learn how to relax. All while having fun together!
SELF-DEFENSE (TUESday) 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Use your self-defense skills to give BOB, the punching dummy a good workout, while you get one too! Become proficient in blocking, kicking and striking. Increase your awareness and ability to defend yourself. A fun, fast action class.
Intro to Billiards (TUESDAY) 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Want to have fun while learning a new skill? Yes, of course you do! Learn Eight-Ball, Nine-Ball, and more, while improving your hand-eye coordination skills and making new friends in this relaxing yet energetic class!
WII SPORTS (TUESday) 3:30pm - 4:30pm
Wii are all better together! Have fun and get some exercise too! Introducing an action-packed Wii class. Wii will play a variety of classic Wii games—Tennis, Archery, Bowling, Baseball. Wii can play ’em all in this fun-filled class, but only if Wii sign up!
Digital Art - ONLINE: (TUESDAY) 6pm - 7pm
Explore the art world in a class about digital art, and art appreciation. In this class we will focus not only on “doing” art, but the motivational drive behind art and its use in expressing ourselves creatively.
Become a Chess Master! (WEDNESDAY) 12:30pm-1:30pm
You can do it! It’s never too late to learn how to play chess, the most popular game in the world! Learning the rules of chess is fun & easy. Rule your Kingdom, protect your Queen, increase your strategic skills and make new friends as you battle to conquer your opponent in this classic board game.
Tech/Career/Misc ($400)
T-Shirt Design Entrepreneur (Monday) 1pm - 2pm
Are you creative? Do you want to start your own business? Do you love t-shirts? In this fun and creative class, we will learn how to make various t-shirt designs in Canva. Then we will learn how to put these designs on t-shirts. From design and production to customer service and profits, we will learn the basics of entrepreneurship and running our very own t-shirt business!
Retro Tech Tinkerers (Tuesday) 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Get ready to travel back into the future with our exploration of vintage electronics! In this hands-on class, we’ll explore classic devices like VCRs, CD players, radios, and anything else we can find. By safely taking these retro gadgets apart, we’ll uncover the fascinating mechanisms that powered our entertainment and communication.
Driving Simulator (Tuesday)
HIGH SCHOOL 5:30PM-6:30PM | Adult 4:30pm-5:30pm
Would you like to learn and practice your driving skills in a safe environment before venturing out into traffic? This class will include going over the basics as well as working on the motor automatic stage of driving to gain skills, comfortability, and confidence in your driving ability. Using driving simulators, students will learn to practice for skill and confidence.
Intro to Podcasting (wednesday) 11:30Am-12:30pm
Get your chops down for fun with friends or become an investigating reporter uncovering an important story. Whatever your interests are, make your very own podcast in this fun and creative class!
From Idea to Reality: Mastering 3D Printing
(WEDNESDAY) 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Together we will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling using FreeCAD and Blender, gain proficiency in editing and preparing models using Creality Print, and engage in hands-on activities to bring our creations to life!
Animate Your Imagination: Dive into Stop Motion ONLINE (THURSDAY) 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Join this class and learn what a stop motion video is, and how to make them using Cloud Stop Motion. This will be an online class where you are encouraged to use your own belongings to bring your imagination to life!
BandLab Beats: Discover the Magic of Music Creation ONLINE (THURSDAY) 5:30pm - 6:30pm
In this music creation class, we will have the opportunity to explore the art of creating music using BandLab. We will gain hands-on experience in utilizing BandLab’s editing tools to create our own music!
Social Skills Classes ($500)
Life Skills Workshop (Monday) 2:30pm-3:30pm
An individualized approach in a group setting to work on practical application of life skills. Build needed habits and routines to engage in social situations, work, school or other areas in a supported way!
Magic: The Gathering (Monday) 3:30pm - 4:30pm
Come one, come all! Witches and wizards gather ’round to cast spells, summon monsters, and explore the mystical world of Magic. In this card game-based class, students will learn the flow of processes and priorities, practice real-time problem-solving skills, manage stress and uncertainty, and build relationships along the way. Join us for this life-changing and fun game of Magic: The Gathering.
Key to Successful Friendships (TUESDAY) 12:30pm - 1:30pm
We all want to have good friends and also be a good friend. In this engaging and fun class, we will practice starting conversations, maintaining conversations, and other social skills necessary to build meaningful relationships. Let’s hang out together, have fun, and make friends!
Rehearsing Life (Wednesday) 2pm - 3pm
In this active and engaging class, we will use theatrical techniques to identify and share our sensitivities, perspectives, experiences, gifts, and challenges with others. We will use specific theatre methods to help us rethink social situations and develop the personal skills necessary to handle complex human interaction. Rehearsing Life will help us to feel more confident when interacting with others in our very own lives!
Express Yourself!- ONLINE (Thursday) 3:30pm - 4:30pm
In this welcoming, laid-back, and fun class we will learn to discover, see and value our uniqueness. We will express ourselves in various ways: perhaps by sharing stories, music, ideas, interests, as well as through the art of conversation. In addition to gaining confidence in expressing ourselves, we will practice listening, giving space and encouragement to others, asking questions, and celebrating the uniqueness of our classmates. Express Yourself is about self-confidence, empathy, collaboration, and social skills essential to living a full, fun, and happy life!
Developing & Strengthening Relationships in Adulthood (Wednesday) 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Now that you are an adult, do you ever struggle to make and keep friendships? You’re not alone in this group as we will share our experiences in the current school/life/workforce. We will learn how to manage adult experiences, learn new ways of managing conflict, and gain lasting relationships with our peers through in-person socialization. Maybe you will find someone with a common interest and become the best of pals in class!

Enrollment Information
To set up an enrollment meeting, please reach out to Jamie at jbolyard@woodhaventeam.org.
Fall Encircle Technology classes at Woodhaven will begin September 9, 2024. Initial Interview is required for new students.
New students can schedule a video or phone meeting to go over application materials. If the student is accepted, another meeting will be scheduled to decide on which classes to enroll.
Students must be 12 years of age or older, attend class weekly, and maintain respectful behavior during class.
NO PERSON SHALL BE DENIED ADMISSION BECAUSE OF RACE, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR VETERAN STATUS.
Several funding options are available for students, including Boone County Children’s Services Fund.
